We are now accepting applications for the 2020 Student Opportunities for Academic Achievements through Research (SOAR) program which provides full-time research experience to USC School of Medicine students who are completing their M1 year. Students can work with a translational science or clinical faculty mentor on a research project in the faculty member's area of expertise. Students will be matched with a mentor based on research interests indicated in this application.

Students selected to participate in the program will work a minimum of 40 hours per week for 8 weeks starting in the summer after their M1 year. They will attend a weekly seminar and will be awarded a stipend of $2500 for the 8-week training period. The exact start and end dates of the 8-week period can be established by the student and mentor but must begin after May 18th and end no later than August 7th.

All SOAR participants will generate two academic products as a result of this experience:

1. A podium talk of their research experience to be presented at the Graduate Student Seminar in the fall

2. A poster presentation of research findings to be submitted and presented at DiscoverUSC in the spring

Completed applications must be submitted by 11:59PM January 6th, 2020
